It is Adam's 26th birthday and he is spending it in Afghanistan. It is his 2nd birthday he is spending over there. He spent his 23rd birthday there as well. I hope he had the best day possible. My birthday package of course did not get there time! Yet the package I sent him with random stuff in that he needed and I sent it to him after I sent his birthday package made it there already. Grrr to the postal system! It's ok because regardless he will appreciate it no matter what. Happy Birthday Adam, we miss you so much! Can't wait until you are home with us again!

Somedays I need a reminder...
At why I do what I do...being an Army wife isn't easy. I love my husband so much, and I wouldn't trade our life for the world. Idealy, I'd like to be out of the Army because of deployments...not so much because of the seperation, but because of his safety. But, anyway, I read things like this, and it reminds me of why I do what I do.
The Military Wife
Lots of moving...
Moving...
Moving...
Moving far from home...
Moving two cars, three kids and one dog...all riding with HER of course.
Moving sofas to basements because they won't go in THIS house;
Moving curtains that won't fit;
Moving jobs and certifications and professional development hours.
Moving away from friends;
Moving toward new friends;
Moving her most important luggage: her trunk full of memories.
Often waiting...
Waiting...
Waiting...
Waiting for housing.
Waiting for orders.
Waiting for deployments.
Waiting for phone calls.
Waiting for reunions.
Waiting for the new curtains to arrive.
Waiting for him to come home,
For dinner...AGAIN!
They call her 'Military Dependent', but she knows better:
She is fiercely In-Dependent.
She can balance a check book;
Handle the yard work;
Fix a noisy toilet;
Bury the family pet...
She is intimately familiar with drywall anchors and toggle bolts.
She can file the taxes;
Sell a house;
Buy a car;
Or set up a move...
.....all with ONE Power of Attorney.
She welcomes neighbors that don't welcome her.
She reinvents her career with every PCS;
Locates a house in the desert, The Arctic, Or the deep south.
And learns to call them all 'home'.
She MAKES them all home.
Military Wives are somewhat hasty...
They leap into:
Decorating,
Leadership,
Volunteering,
Career alternatives,
Churches,
And friendships.
They don't have 15 years to get to know people.
Their roots are short but flexible.
They plant annuals for themselves and perennials for those who come after them.
Military Wives quickly learn to value each other:
They connect over coffee,
Rely on the spouse network,
Accept offers of friendship and favors.
Record addresses in pencil...
Military Wives have a common bond:
The Military Wife has a husband unlike other husbands; his commitment is unique.
He doesn't have a 'JOB'
He has a 'MISSION' that he can't just decide to quit...
He's on-call for his country 24/7.
But for her, he's the most unreliable guy in town!
His language is foreign
TDY
PCS
OPR
SOS
ACC
BDU
ACU
BAR
CIB
TAD
And so, a Military Wife is a translator for her family and his.
She is the long- distance link to keep them informed;
the glue that holds them together.
A Military Wife has her moments:
She wants to wring his neck;
Dye his uniform pink;
Refuse to move to Siberia;
But she pulls herself together.
Give her a few days,
A travel brochure,
A long hot bath,
A pledge to the flag,
A wedding picture,
And she goes.
She packs.
She moves.
She follows.
Why?
What for?
How come?
You may think it is because she has lost her mind.
But actually it is because she has lost her heart.
It was stolen from her by a man,
Who puts duty first,
Who longs to deploy,
Who salutes the flag,
And whose boots in the doorway remind her that as long as he is her Military Husband,
She will remain his military wife.
And would have it no other way.
~Author Unknown~
The ending makes me cry everytime I read this because I know that no matter what decision Adam makes, I will forever stand by his side. I love and appreciate my husband for everything he does for us and his country. There are not many men brave enough to do what he does. I will forever appreciate his sacrifices he has made for us and this country...I hope he knows how much we appreciate and love him!

Oh yeah!
And a new goal of mine is to get my camera out, and play with it! I want to start taking a ton of pics and use different settings on the camera. Within a few months I really want to get a DSLR similar to my dad's and really get into taking some fun shots of the girls. I really can't stand the lag (or the time it takes to focus...it makes me miss good pictures sometimes!) on our digital even though I think most of the time it does take good pics, Im ready for the next step up!

One week down!
We did it, we did it, we did it, yeah yeah, we did it! Woooo! *Doing my we did it dance!* We made it thru our first week. Not without a ton of stress, but we are still surviving haha. Allie's behavior is out of this world! She's just finding herself in tons of troubles these days. Her and Katie just fight, do something bad, tell on each other, beg for food and fight some more. This weekend my mom and I are dedicating the entire weekend to switching the bedrooms so the girls and I can be in our bigger room. Im so desperate for more space. We are unpacked in the room we are in, and fine for sleeping arrangements, but it will be nice when Allie and Emmy can play in their room when they want...and Em's toys aren't taking over my parent's living room! Tomorrow Im going to register the van, Im hoping everything goes well at the DMV and Im in and out, but I hate the DMV especially for something like this. But, we will see, hopefully I come home with my Jersey plates tomorrow!

Welcome 2011
I have never welcomed a year and wanted it to go by so quickly. I typically hate January, and especially I hated it during our last deployment. It went too slow, and it was just a hard month for me. I’m very happy to be facing it as our first month of the deployment so I can get it over with! The girls are doing really well in NJ. Allie of course loves having someone to play with all the time. She has a little cold or something, so her voice is pretty raspy. She enjoys it, so she has been singing, talking and even crying extra to hear the difference in her voice. Emmy is doing great also. With the new stuff she is doing, it feels like Adam has been gone so much longer than the 5 or 6 days that he has been gone. Tomorrow will be a week since we said our good bye and she is now waving, saying hi, has said dada and fake coughing. If you say hi to her she gets so excited she waves so hard that either, A) The person holding her is likely to get injured or B) Her little arm might fall off! She is also almost sitting up on her own. She can do it; it’s just a matter of when she wants to. Just like she can somewhat crawl to get herself around…when she wants to. Lazy, stubborn baby! She goes for a check up on Friday to get her 6 month shots. We are behind because the clinic at Ft. Knox was out of one of her vaccines, so we held off on all of them until we came here so she could get them all at once. There is so much that needs to be done. I need to get the van registered, which is definitely going to be a process, and I also have to get the oil changed on the van too. Hopefully I can get a lot accomplished this week and get it all taken care of.
